Millard Paul Rainey, 87 of Summit, passed away at his home on July 27, 2023. He was born on December 31, 1935 in Big Clifty, Kentucky, he was a member of Summit Church of Christ. He was a concrete finisher for many years, and known as the “concrete man”, in Hardin and Grayson Counties, He had a big, loving personality and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Millard Rainey, Isabelle Rainey, and Nova Rainey, who passed away when he was an infant; two brothers, Charles and Holmes Rainey; three sisters, Edna Pence, Nellie Hodge, and Reba Matthews. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Bigelow, his fishing buddy.
Survivors included his bride of 65 years, Brenda Campbell Rainey; three sons, John (Lisa) Rainey, Daniel Rainey, and David (Tara) Rainey; one daughter Debbie Bigelow; four grandchildren, Michelle (Kevin) Smith, Ryan (Nicole) Rainey, Leah Rainey and Rees Rainey; five great grandchildren, Makenna, Grayson, and Wyatt Smith, Weston and Brooke Rainey. He is also survived by an adopted daughter by heart, RexAnn Terry Goodman; and five sisters, Helen Clemons, Margie Duvall, Jean Harrison, Gail Spencer and Sue Clark; and a special brother-in-law, Raymond Duvall, his gardening buddy.
Funeral Services will be held 12 PM (CDT) Monday July 31, 2023, at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson, with Sam Dick officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitations will be after 9AM (CDT) until the time of funeral on Monday.
