Michael Johnson

Michael Doal Johnson, age 80, of Leitchfield, passed away, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at his residence.

He was born July 27, 1943, in Edmonson County, to the late Stroudy and Katherine Johnson. Mike was a well-known mechanic and an United States Army veteran. He loved pulling lawn mowers, car races and sitting on the porch spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, Travis Johnson and Billy Joe Johnson; a sister, Irene Coy and a brother, Clellian Henderson Decker.

Mike is survived by his wife, Wilma “Pettie” Gaither Johnson; a daughter, Robin Dean of Leitchfield; three sons, Clellian Johnson (Sandra) of Leitchfield, Calvin Johnson (Lauri) of Leitchfield and Allen Dunn of Irvington; nine grandchildren, Randy Johnson (Cortney), Michael Johnson, Jessica Melvin (Brian), Justin Dean, Sarah Dean, Narasha Mosley, Savannah Johnson, Dylan Johnson and Dakota Johnson and nine great-grandchildren.

He will be missed but not forgotten and always loved.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM (CDT), Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Watkins Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Peonia Christian Church Cemetery.

 Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM, Saturday and after 10 AM, Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
