Grover Decker Obituary

Grover Decker, was born October 8, 1937, on Conoloway Creek in Grayson County and passed away on April 12, 2024, at Spring View Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leitchfield, Kentucky.

He was the sixth of seven boys born to John and Irene Lashley Decker. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Arie, Carlos, Jerald, Burl, and Woodford and four sisters-in-laws, Eltie Lee, Doris, Jeanette and Ida Decker.

He is survived by his wife of over sixty-six years, Ethelyn Huffman Decker; one son, Kenneth Gregory (Robin) Decker; two grandchildren, Cortney Nicole (Jason) Farris and Aaron Kyle (Heather) Decker; six great grandchildren, Tyler and Liam Harrell, Peyton and Max Decker and Tyler and Zak Farris; one brother, Dudley Decker; one sister-in-law, Janie Higdon and one brother-in-law, Duard Huffman.

Grover was born again and baptized in 1972, and became a member of Antioch General Baptist Church. He later served as a church trustee and in 1973 became the caretaker of the cemetery. Both of these, he did to the best of his ability until his health would no longer permit it. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Grayson Co. Cattleman’s Assoc. He served as a committeeman for the ASCS office for several years and fulfilled a temporary term as Grayson Co. 5th district magistrate. Grover loved farming, his family, his church, and Bluegrass and Gospel music.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM (CST), Monday, April 15, 2024, at Rogers Funeral Home with Bro. Damon Lasley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 PM Sunday and after 9 AM Monday at the funeral home.

His wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, that he spent so many years taking care of.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Spring View Nursing for all they did for us over the last 5 years and to all of the people that have loved our family through this time of sickness.
