Darlene Catherine Cottrell

Darlene Catherine Cottrell, age 80, of Elizabethtown, KY, formerly of Grayson County, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehab in Elizabethtown.

She was born on January 28, 1943, in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late Marchmond and Catherine Cottrell.

She attended Active Day in Elizabethtown where she loved dancing, playing bingo, and arts & crafts. She enjoyed attending church with her family David and Sally singing along with gospel music including her favorite hymnal I’ll Fly Away. She loved her family time and always brightened every room with a huge smile, lots of laughter and the biggest hugs of all.

She is survived by three brothers Sonny Cottrell of Big Clifty, KY, Dave Cottrell (Lanie) of Corydon, IN, Billy Cottrell (Brenda) of Rineyville, KY, two sisters, Sally Coleman (David) of Fort Myers, FL, and Betty Sparks of Leitchfield, KY, sister-in-law Linda Cottrell, a very special nephew Elvis Cottrell (Cathy) of Shepherdsville, KY and many other nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Vernon Cottrell.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM (CDT), Friday, May 19, 2023, at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson with Bro. Glenn Cornett officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery near Cub Run.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM (CDT), Thursday and after 9 AM (CDT), Friday at the funeral home.
