Obituary

Virginia Ree Armes, age 81, of Clarkson, passed away, Sunday, February 23, 2025.

She was born December 27, 1943, in Grayson County, to the late, Charles Wesley "Charlie" and Ada Mae Hayes Williams. She was a housewife and a member of Sulfur Wells (Snap) Missionary Baptist Church. She loved pitching horseshoes, singing karaoke, playing with her grandchildren and her cats and dogs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Chesteen Anthony Gibson and Donald Armes; two children, Karan Gibson and Byran "Buck" Gibson; a granddaughter, Kristi Carwile; a brother, Johnnie Williams and three sisters, Margaret Evans, Verna Haycraft and Eva Higdon.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Sue Harris (Garry) and Loretta Loveda Carwile (Joseph); six grandchildren, Garry R. Harris, Megan Harris, Aaron Harris, Matthew Carwile, Kelsey Carwile and Ellen Maples; four sisters, Carrie Wolard, Mary Mae Alvey, Betty Jean Cain and Lizzie Faye Williams; two stepchildren, Sandy Sanders and Terry Armes; seven great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM (CT), Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson with Joseph Carwile officiating. Burial will follow in the Gibson Armes Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM (CT), Friday and after 9 AM (CT), Saturday, at the funeral home.
