Obituary

Tommy Hodge, age 76, of Summit, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 13, 1949, to the late James Andrew and Nellie Rainey Hodge.

Tommy served as a supervisor and dedicated many years of his career to working as a Tool and Die Maker at Stoneville Furniture. Throughout his time there, he earned the respect of his colleagues for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality.

Outside of work, Tommy was happiest when he had a tool in his hand. Whether he was meticulously organizing his workshop or tackling a new project, he believed there was no problem that couldn’t be solved with the right wrench and a bit of patience. When the tools were finally put away, Tommy knew exactly how to enjoy his down time. He was a true connoisseur of a good hamburger and a quiet moment to himself, often followed by a cigarette and a chance to reflect on the day’s work.

You could always count on Tommy for a conversation, especially if the topic was the forecast. He loved talking about the weather, though he rarely had anything good to say about the cold or the rain. If it was damp or chilly outside, he wasn’t shy about sharing his disapproval, much preferring a day that stayed dry enough for sitting outside on the front porch.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Hodge and a sister, Julia Hodge.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Linda Peters Hodge; his children Kimberly Hodge Withers (Darryl), Tammie Hodge Johnson (Todd), J.W. Hodge, Chad Hodge and Michael Peters (Heather); 16 cherished grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Larry, George, Billy and Mike; three sisters, Rita, Nola and Jamie and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Rogers Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
