Obituary

Ruben Vincent, age 70 of Leitchfield, KY., departed this life on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Norton Hospital in Louisvile, KY., surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 22, 1940, in Grayson County, KY., to Doll and Ollie Meredith Vincent.

Ruben grew up in the Sadler Community and attended New Harmony School. He was a born again Christian.

On June 17, 1961, Ruben married his best friend and love of his life, Martha Whobrey. Along the way they were blessed with two wonderful children, Steve and Jennifer. As the years passed and the children grew and married, the nest was filled with four very special grandchildren and in June, 2011, one precious great-grand-daughter was born and Ruben's eyes gleamed with pride.

Ruben retired from Johnson Controls Battery Plant in 1996. After retirement he worked on his farm in the Sadler community, with Martha always by his side. Ruben was a lover of the outdoors. He had a passion for nature and a heart for honesty and hard work. It was not unsusal to see Ruben tending his cattle, hunting, fishing or simply riding his four-wheeler, admiring the countryside that he loved so well. He also loved going to auctions looking for knives for himself or cookbooks and antique glassware for Martha. Ruben could often be found, with Martha at his side, quietly greeting his many friends and making new ones, at Watkins-Oller or Rogers-Oller Funeral Home.

Ruben found joy in sharing simple blessings with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was faithful and strong like the sturdy oak trees that grow on his farm. He was adored by and happiest in the presence of his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He left to those he loved and those who loved him, a lifetime of memories and stories to share.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Martha, his son and daughter-in-law; Steve and Libby Vincent, daughter and son-in-law; Jennifer and Aaron Patterson, his grandchildren, Stelyn Kahle and her husband; Ty, Talon Vincent, Carly and Lindsey Patterson and his precious great-grand-daughter; Allie Rae Kahle.

Other survivors include two sisters, Margie Whobrey and Mable Whobrey, three brothers, Carl, Don and Dale Vincent and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

You may be gone but not forgotten. NOW BOY!!!
