Roger Lee McCubbins, 78, of Nolin River Lake, passed away on August 8, 2026.

Born on April 22, 1949, in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky, Roger lived a full life rooted in family, faith in hard work, and love for the outdoors. 

Roger proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. He went on to build a career spanning 45 years with AT&T. Outside of work, he was a passionate small farmer, an avid woodsman, and a dedicated fisherman who found peace in the land and water around him. 

Above all, Roger was known for his generosity — always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He never knew a stranger, and his easy way with people made him a beloved fixture in the Dreamland Lakeside Subdivision, where he was a regular at Thirsty Thursdays and always had a story to tell. He was a proud American through and through.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Inez McCubbins; his sister, Betty; and his brothers, Larry, Cubbie, Rick, and Steve.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Kirkpatrick; his son, Hunter McCubbins; his daughters, Tracie (Matthew) Kowalski, Janel (Brandon) Rodamer, and Christel (David) Benning; his grandchildren, Abigail McCubbins, Graham (Gwyneth) Kowalski, Dane Kowalski, Declan (Cassandra) Kowalski, Tyler (Areli) Kirkpatrick, Mara Kirkpatrick, Anthony Robertson, and Keegan Benning; and his great-grandchildren, Eddie Kirkpatrick, Aaliyah Kirkpatrick, Malaya Kirkpatrick, Vincent George, Mila George, and Lola Robertson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date. Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
