Robert "Shawn" Newman, age 46, of Caneyville entered into his eternal slumber on Thursday, September 11, 2025.  Shawn was the son of the late Debra Newman of Louisville and Robert & Tina Goldsmith of Leitchfield.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a cousin, Amanda; and his grandparents.

Shawn left behind his beloved wife, Tara Newman; five children, Nicholas Allan of Louisville, Haley Wathen of Louisville, Nicole Newman, Christopher Newman, and Tanner Newman all of Caneyville. Shawn also had two sisters, Jody Mercer (Gary) of Leitchfield, and Kayla Newman (Homer) of Louisville; a brother, Michael Goldsmith (Fashonda) of Leitchfield; a stepfather, Ronald Ogle; and several nieces and nephews.

Shawn was a jack of all trades.  He often worked on cars and tinkered with many other things. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved fishing, trail riding, and just being in the woods. He was always the life of the party, and his personality was one that you couldn't forget. He loved being silly and making people laugh and was always willing to lend a helping hand when anyone was in need.  Most of all, he was a good father and loved spending time with his family and children.  He will definitely be missed by all his family and friends.

A private service will be held by the family at a later date.
