Robert (Bob) Stanley Cain, 93, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, KY, surrounded by family.

Born on September 24, 1932, in Brandenburg, Kentucky, Bob was the son of the late Moses Cain and Eva May Cain. Raised on a farm, Bob was the youngest son of 6 siblings. He proudly served in the United States Army attaining the rank of Corporal.

Following his military service, he married the love of his life Edna Miller. Bob enjoyed a career of 41 years with LG&E where he made lifelong friends of co-workers. After retirement, he owned a furniture store in Radcliff, Ky. As a hobby he loved playing music. A talented drummer, he spent many years playing with his band at local venues on the weekends and looked forward to playing with other talented members of his family at the annual Cain Family Reunion.

Bob was an animated storyteller, often making people laugh with his old-fashioned idioms and made-up nicknames. You never knew what he was going to say, and you didn’t want to miss it. He was also a faithful Christian – his generous, gentle spirit unmatched. Every evening he would set out food for the birds, stray cats and the occasional raccoon. He was always seen lovingly carrying his babies and grandbabies around every chance he got. And though he didn’t play golf, he bought a golf cart just to ride it around his neighborhood with his grandchildren and teach them how to drive.

Bob never hesitated to help someone in need and was especially compassionate toward those experiencing hardship or homelessness, often stopping to offer a meal or kind word. His quiet acts of kindness reflected the way he lived his life with humility, empathy, and genuine care for others. He was an ever-present, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He was the kind of man we should all aspire to be.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Edna; his daughter, Lisa French (Jim); his son, Glenn Cain (Kay); his grandchildren, Amanda Clark (Casey), Paige Marquardt (Zach), and Jac Cain; and his great-grandchildren, Rhett Clark, Kendall Marquardt, Jameson Clark, and Audrey Clark.

Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 12 Noon (CT), Friday, July 24, at St. Paul Catholic Church

Funeral Mass will be at St. Paul Catholic Church 1821 St. Paul Road Leitchfield, Ky 42754 at 12 Noon, (CT), Friday, July 24, 2026, with Fr. Suneesh Mathew officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Bob’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
