Robert Wayne Ashley, Sr., age 88 of Leitchfield, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away November 26, 2023, at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center, in Leitchfield, Kentucky.

He was born November 27, 1934, in Illinois, to the late Samuel William and Lela Day Ashley. He was a long-time construction worker, and Army veteran, he was a huge racehorse fan, a big University of Kentucky fan, and a diehard democrat. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Susan Wooley Ashley; one brother, William "Bill" Ashley; four sisters Clyda, Ruby, Joyce, and Dorothy.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Ashley Jr., Kevin Paul Doebler and Marty Ashton; one daughter, Kathy Baechle (Todd); Four grandchildren Jennifer "J.J." Reitz, Patricia Weiter (Eric), Rachael Carter (Brandon), and Glen Reitz; nine great-grandchildren, Savannah, Lily, Katie, Ava, Georgia, Leona, Veronica, Jaden and Mila; and one sister Ruth Cash.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM (CST) Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky with Sheree Keeling officiating.
