Richard "Dick" Alvey, age 90, of Clarkson, KY., departed this life and went to live with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 28, 2012.

He was born in Grayson Co., KY., son of the late William Conrad and Marguerite VanMeter Alvey.

He served in the Army during WWII. After returning home he started working as a Rural Mail Carrier in Grayson County, KY., and after many years of service he retired to enjoy life with his family and friends. Dick was an avid Fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips with his children, grandchildren and friends. Each of these trips always brought home a funny story to be cherished by all. He was a life-long Member and Deacon of Clarkson Baptist Church and could always be counted on to go beyond his call of duty. He was a big fan of his UK basketball team. Dick leaves us with many memories that will always bring a smile to our faces. We love you and will miss you, dear friend.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jean Alvey, of Clarkson, KY., son, Richard Lee Alvey of Murfreesboro, TN., son, Conrad E. Alvey of Caneyville, KY., daughter, Donna G. Vieira (Steve) of Caneyville, KY., son, Mark A. Morris (Melisa) of Campbellsville, KY., son, Michael W. Alvey (Lynne) of Owensboro, KY., and daughter, Susan Alvey of Bowling Green, KY.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In Leiu of flowers--the family has requested donations to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.

Visitation : Friends may call from 12 noon - 8:00 pm Monday at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home with visitation continuing at 9:00 am Tuesday at Clarkson Baptist Church.

Services : Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday May 1 2012 at Clarkson Baptist Church. Bro. Billy Carter Bro. Arnold Moon and Bro. Arland Benningfield will conduct the services.

Interment : Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Leitchfield KY.
