Oades Powell was born in Grayson Co., KY., the son of Charlie and Anna Wilson Powell. He was married to Iva Layman Powell.

He was a Farmer, Construction Worker and a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his Wife of 64 years; a son Phillip Powell; four daughters Alfreda (J.D.) Elmore, Brenda (Lester) Meredith, Judy Mattingly and Vicki Starcher; a son-in-law Jerry Meredith; fifteen Grandchildren; twenty-three Great-grandchildren; three Great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Flossie Roberts and Corine Houchens;a special nephew Russell Hackley; several Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, a son Billy Ray Powell,a daughter Carol Faye Meredith, a son-in-law David Pete Mattingly, two grandchildren Alan Meredith and Hope Starcher,five brothers Edward, Glenn, Alton, Ernest and Clay Powell and three sisters Lily Smith, Alma Hackley and Marie Hodge.

Visitation : Saturday May 1 2010 after 10:30 AM; Sunday May 02 2010 after 9:00 AM until time of service at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home.

Services : Saturday May 2 2010 at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Brooks officiating
