Myra Jean "Jeannie" Higdon, age 68, of Big Clifty, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

She was born on October 5, 1957, in Grayson County to the late Hurley and Juanita Johnston Higdon. She was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and a devoted mother. She spent her life caring for others, working as a caregiver for American Health.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Darrell, Dale, and Barry Higdon; a nephew, Christian Higdon; and two nieces, Jenna Higdon and Mistie Brooks.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ellen Stanton (Jason Webb); six brothers, Kerry Higdon (Patty), Neil Higdon, Timmy Higdon, Dennis Higdon (Cindy), Keith Higdon (Connie), and Norris Higdon; two sisters, Sharolyn Kipper and Joan Chaney (Jimmy); along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM (CT), Monday, September 28, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Rev. Suneesh Mathew officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Big Clifty.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM (CT) Sunday and after 9:00 AM Monday at the church.

A prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM Sunday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul Catholic School in Myra’s memory.
