Mary Juanita Lush Terlecki, age 88, of Addison, IL, formerly of Clarkson, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026.
Born March 7, 1938, Mary lived a full and meaningful life grounded in love, family, and resilience. A Southern girl at heart, she carried a deep love for country music. She was kind and nurturing in her way, offering pragmatic advice, words of encouragement, and a genuine concern for the well-being of others. Those closest to her also knew her as someone with an ornery streak and a sharp sense of humor. She spoke her mind, stood her ground, and brought a spark to every room she entered. And for those lucky enough to experience it, lying beside her while she gently rubbed your back, arms, or scalp was pure comfort; something close to magic that will never be forgotten.
She found joy in life’s simple treasures like antiquing, garage sales, and the thrill of discovering unique pieces with a story to tell. She also enjoyed spending time watching her favorite shows on TLC. Mary spent different chapters of her life in both Chicago and Kentucky, building lasting relationships and memories in each place she called home. Wherever she was, her door was always open to welcome in anyone who needed a place to stay, offering comfort, stability, and care without hesitation.
She shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, Al. In her later years, as her health declined, Al became her steady constant, tending to her every day with quiet patience and love. He kept a special notebook filled with her appointments and carefully tracked her medications in his spreadsheets, a small but powerful reflection of just how deeply he cared for her. They traveled often, especially on road trips that carried them across the country, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Side by side, they also built something truly special, an antique storefront in Sandwich, Illinois. Al brought each piece to life with his woodworking and craftsmanship, while Mary lovingly refinished them, restoring their beauty and history. They were more than partners; they were a perfect team in every sense.
In addition to being a devoted wife, she was a loving mother to her three children, Adra, Steve, and Annette. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucille Clemons Lush and her ten siblings.
After years of living with pain, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and free from suffering. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM (CT), Saturday, May 16, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Clarkson with Rev. Stephen Van Lan Thal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM, Friday at Rogers Funeral Home with a prayer service to be held at 6 PM.
