Mary Lorene Smith Bratcher, age 98, of Clarkson, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Bee Hive Assisted Living Facility in Leitchfield.

She was born November 27, 1925, in Grayson County, to the late, Jack and Laura Hill Smith. She was a member of Clarkson United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and cooking amazing meals for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas M. Bratcher, Sr.; a son, Thomas "Tommy" Bratcher, Jr.; a son-in-law, Charles Elmore; three brothers, Theodore (Effie) Smith, Charles (Temple) Smith and Monty (Estelle) Smith and three sisters, Bessie (Hubert) Collard, Ambrose (Embry) Haycraft and Josie (Pat) Franklin.

Lorene is survived by two daughters, Nell Elmore and Carol McClure; one son, James (Edna) Bratcher; seven grandchildren, Charlie (Robin) Elmore, Todd (Angie) Elmore, Lee (Jaime) Bratcher, Ryan (Beth) Bratcher, Emily (Braxton) Allen, Kelly (Daniel) Kirby and Tanner Bratcher; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM (CDT), Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson with Rev. Johnnie Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarkson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM, Friday and after 9 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.
