Joyce Howard Alvey, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Morning Pointe Senior Living in Danville, KY.

Joyce was born and lived in Leitchfield, Ky. until 2020, when she moved to Danville to be closer to her daughter. She was a Christian and spent most of her adult life working as a licensed practical nurse tending to the elderly at the nursing homes in Leitchfield. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her siblings Roger (Denise) Howard and Pat Cleveland; two children, James (Penny) Alvey of Hudson, FL. and Lori (Chris) Reed of Danville; two granddaughters, Natasha (Nik) Dunkelberger and Lily Reed; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Alene Birch Howard; her siblings J.D. Howard, R.L. Howard, Billy Howard, Harry Howard, Kenneth Howard, Betty Wilson, George Howard, and Freddie Howard, and her husband Lowell G. Alvey, Sr.

A memorial service will be held for her from 1:00-3:00 PM (CT) on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Watkins Funeral Home, 301 N. Main St., Leitchfield, KY.
