John Edward Penny, Sr. age 79, of Big Clifty, passed away, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.

He was born March 29, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late John and Edith Quale Penny. He enjoyed working as an auto body repairman and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alonso Penny; a daughter, Dawn Penny; three sisters, Barbara Graziano, Caroline Delaney and Edith Marion Penny and two brothers, Robert and Dennis Penny.

He is survived by three daughters, Helen Searle, Debbie Booz (Brian), Patricia Daoust (John Paul); five sons, John Penny, Jr. (Julie), Paul Penny, Erick Penny (Karen), John Searle (Kerri) and John Penny; a sister, Pam Paretita (Ernesto); twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM (CT), Monday, July 14, 2025, at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson with Rev. Suneesh Mathew officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM Sunday and after 9 AM, Monday at the funeral home.
