Obituary

John E. Mudd , age 83, of Clarkson, passed away, Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his residence.

He was born March 8, 1942, in Grayson County, to the late, Dent and Evelyn Stith Mudd. He served as a vice president of Houchens Industries and retired after 57 years of service.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Danissa Mudd Lewis; two brothers, Allen Ray and Joseph Leo; four sisters, Elizabeth Ann, Julia Beatrice, Betty Jean, and Sister Anne Michelle Mudd.

John is survived by his spouse, Sue Hagan Mudd; two sons, David and Daniel (Nancy); six grandchildren, Nina, Jude, Hope, Miles, Asher, and Lucy; a great-grandchild, Willow; a brother, Ralph Mudd; two sisters, Martha Hill (Leon) and Sondra Gavieres (Vince); a brother-in-law, Mike Hagan; and two sisters-in-law, Joyce Mudd and Darlene Hagan.

A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon (CDT), Monday, December 22, 2025, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Clarkson with Fr. Stephen Van Lal Than, Fr. Suneesh Mathew, and Fr. Brian Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Catholic Church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 1 PM (CDT) until 8 PM, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Rogers Funeral Home and on Monday from 9 AM until 11:30 AM.

A prayer service will be held on Sunday at 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul School, 1812 St. Paul Rd., Leitchfield, KY 42754.
