Jimmy Garrett Russell was born in Kentucky, he was the son of James Roland and Betty Gleeda Simpson Russell. He was a Veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Cathy Reinhart; a daughter, Kaitlynn Cheyann Russell; two sisters: Debora Lynn Russell and Pamela Sue Mount and two brothers: Richard Lee and Donald Ray Russell.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and one son Timothy Garrett Russell.
