James Floyd Phelps, age 99, of Caneyville, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab.

He was born March 11, 1925, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Elbert and Emily Smith Phelps. He retired from Standard Forgings; was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana and attended Falls of Rough Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Erlene Cummings Phelps; a daughter, Sharon (Dan) Groover of Illinois; a son, Darrell Phelps of Florida; three grandchildren, Taryn (Brad) Edmondson, Tawny Phelps and Tayler Phelps; a great-grandson, Judah Edmondson and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation was chosen, and no services are scheduled.

Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson is in charge of arrangements.
