Obituary

Jack Eugene Koontz, age 97, of Clarkson, passed away, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Baptist Health in Louisville.

He was born August 14, 1927, in Harlan County, to the late Floyd Koontz Sr. and Katie West Koontz. He was an Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Leitchfield Christian Church. One of the highlights of his life was participating in the Bluegrass Honor Flight for Veterans to Washington D. C. in 2018. He retired from International Harvester and enjoyed gardening, and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Wilt Koontz; two brothers, Floyd Koontz, Jr. and Robert Koontz and a sister, Sarah Taylor.

Jack is survived by two daughters, Shirley Thomas and Cynthia Magrey; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM (CT), Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson with Bro. Lee Schroerlucke officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.

Visitation will be after 9 AM (CT), Thursday at the funeral home.
