Imogene Joyce, age 90, of Big Clifty, passed away, Friday, September 27, 2024, at Springview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leitchfield.

She was born September 14, 1934, to the late Fred and Alma Smith. She was a homemaker and farmer who enjoyed being outdoors.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Joyce and her older brother, Howard Smith.

It would be wrong to say that Imogene lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Imogene. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost her fight. Even in the face of adversity she remained steadfast and never wavered, a true testament of her inner strength and how resilient she was.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Smith of Rineyville; her son, Timothy Joyce (Tammy) of Big Clifty; two granddaughters, Shauna Joyce Wieland and Amanda Joyce Willis (Josh) and four great-grandchildren, Shay, Camryn, Brooklyn and Levi.

We take comfort in knowing that she is now in a better place. We will always cherish the memories that we shared with her and carry her love and legacy in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, we love you.

Private funeral services will be held and burial will be in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery.
