Garry E Hockenbury, age 71, of Big Clifty, passed away, Friday, September 11, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on September 23, 1954, to the late Edwina Decker Clark and David Hockenbury. He was a painter by trade, a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. Garry loved his grandchildren, and he was a member of Jubilee The Church in Clarkson, Kentucky.

Garry is survived by his son, Garry “Patches” Hockenbury (Danielle); a daughter, Kristina Meredith (Jason); ten grandchildren, Jason Lee, Justin Whobrey, Ciara Higdon, Lindsey Hockenbury, Hunter Meredith, Ariel Meredith, Kaylee Hockenbury, Dakota Smallwood, Katelyn Mahurin, Bailey Lee; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Deborah Foley, Pamela Headrick, Vicky Mercer, Tracy Haycraft (Aaron); one brother, David Hockenbury.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shannon Lee Hockenbury; a grandchild, Sarah Hockenbury; a daughter-in-law, Tonya Smallwood.

Cremation was chosen; a memorial service will be at a later date.
