David Wesley Downs, age 60, of Shelbyville, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at home with his family by his side after his 5 month battle with Melanoma.

He was a dedicated employee at Toyota Motor Co., in Georgetown, KY, since 1988. He was a proud previous member of the U.S. Air Force and the Army National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who camped, fished, and hiked from the time he could walk. He also was the greatest husband, daddy and grandpa that ever lived. He was greatly loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Downs. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Vicki Harris Downs; daughter, Amy Downs; daughter, Jenny Downs Lawson (Michael); son, David Matthew Downs (Heather); mother, Alberta Lukemeier Downs; sister, Sandra Downs Earles; sister, Kathi Downs Riggs; grandchildren, Cameron, David, Katelyn, Taylor and Clayton and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown, KY from 2:00pm to 7:00pm (EST) on Thursday, July 21.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation or to Hosparus of Louisville.

Visitation : Friends from 2:00pm - 9:00pm (CST) Friday July 22 2011 and from 8:00am-11:00am (CST) Saturday at Watkins-Oller Funeral Home in Leitchfield.

Services : Funeral services at 11:00am (CST) Saturday July 23 2011 at Watkins-Oller Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Lyons officiating.

Interment : Burial to follow at Leitchfield Memory Gardens.
