Dr. Cynthia A. Getz, beloved daughter of the late James and Marilyn Getz, devoted sister to Mary Ellen Wygant (Richard) and Teresa Benning (Martin), passed away January 5, 2022, surrounded by family, after a 24-year battle with cancer. She is also survived by a niece, Laura Wygant and nephew, Tristan Benning, as well as her faithful pets, Kaylie and Jamie.

Cindy graduated from Bettsville High School in 1976, and Brescia College in 1980 with a BA in Sociology and the University of Toledo with a Master's in Education. She was a guidance counselor at Summerfield Schools in Michigan until she retired. She obtained her PhD from the University of Toledo in 2006 and was a tenured professor at Kentucky Wesleyan University.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Hohman officiating. Interment will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery next to her parents.

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 1 PM, Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jacqueline Rush Lynch Syndrome Cancer Foundation, American Cancer Society or St. Jude's.
